The car overturned on the Princes Highway near Spring Creek Drive about 1.30am.
It came to rest partially on the roadway, prompting the closure of one of two northbound lanes.
Kiama SES rescue teams used hydraulic tools to free a 57-year-woman from the wreck.
The woman was transported by ambulance to Wollongong Hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.
