As an organisation that has been providing care and support to people with disabilities since 1932, the Cram Foundation acknowledges and commends the commitment of carers who dedicate significant time and effort to support their loved ones.
Although Cram Foundation employs staff to provide care and support on a paid professional basis, the underlying principles remain the same.
It is for this reason that Cram Foundation wishes to recognise the role of carers within the community.
Many people remember the old red brick building at the top of Crown Street in Wollongong known as Cram House – home to over 20 people with a disability. In 2002 this was closed and the residents relocated to live in homes in Albion Park.
With a focus on people with complex care needs including intellectual, acquired brain injury and physical disabilities, Cram Foundation is recognised as a specialist provider to people with high needs.

With the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to commence in the Illawarra from July 2017, there may be people being supported at home by unpaid carers who may choose to use their NDIS funding package to pay for support they otherwise would not have access to.
The person may wish to move into a shared house where care and support is provided. Cram Foundation can assist with these goals.
