Founder of the charity Margaret Purcell said they’ve been very fortunate that two “awesome” businesses, Blairs Tyres and Notts Smash Repairs, have come to their rescue to get their car back on the road.
“They have been extremely helpful and are going the extra mile,” Mrs Purcell said.
The 90’s model Barina was targeted late September by thieves who broke into a secure underground carpark in Gerringong to steal the mag wheels, which were a community donation.
The car had been wiped clean of any fingerprints and it’s believed the offenders are still at large.
The Luv Bug was created through the generosity of more than a dozen local businesses to be used in projects like teaching teens about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
The charity provides support for people affected by poverty and mental health issues and also uses the car in outreach programs “on the streets”.
