Promising Athletics Wollongong pole vaulter James Gorham has continued his rise through the ranks after claiming the NSW All Schools title at Homebush.
Gorham improved on his runner-up placing last year by taking out the 14 Years Pole Vault title last weekend.
Gorham vaulted 3.10 metres, a 70cm better vault than his 2015 effort.
His vault was matched by an ACT competitor but Gorham was the top NSW athlete with the NSW All Schools competition open to both Independent and Publlc School students.
Gorham will now represent NSW at the Australian All Schools Track and Field Championships in Canberra from December 2-4.
Two talented Nowra Athletics Club juniors – who are part of an Athletics Wollongong-based pole vault training group – also excelled at the NSW All Schools competition.
Alice Hamlen won the 13 Years Girls event with a vault of (2.30m) and Cooper Thomson was second in the 15 Years Boys, clearing 3.00m.
Athletics Wollongong is proud of the achievements of Will Tyler and Montse Ros, who will compete in the World Masters Athletics Championships in Perth from October 26 to November 6.
