With plenty of time still on the shot clock, the American sharpshooter hit arguably the biggest shot of the match when he nailed a three to give Perth a five point buffer with 74 seconds remaining.
It proved a telling blow as Perth went on to prevail 80-73 to extend their winning run over the Hawks in WA closer to a decade.
For Ingram, there was never any doubt he was going to pull the trigger.
"I knew that I was going to take it, that's all I knew," he said.
"You are kind of playing with the clock when you get under a minute in the fourth.
"You kind of think should I take this one or not but coach made it very clear if you are open, take it.
"I think I passed up one maybe a minute or two before that and I decided that wasn't going to happen again.
"Whether it was a make or a miss I knew I was taking it. That was the only thing I was certain of."
Ingram finished with nine points in his first match for the Wildcats and hit three of five from long range at Perth Arena.
