The school’s Spooky Carnival on October 28 will feature rides, a haunted house, cake stalls, fairy floss, music, showbags, a fancy dress parade, zombie tattoos and fingernail painting.
Helensburghh Public School P&C president Naomi Burley said the Spooky Carnival allows the kids to celebrate in a fun, safe environment..
Funds raised from the Halloween-inspired event go towards buying new playground equipment.
Nearly half of the $70,000 needed for the new playground has already been raised.
‘’We would love to raise another $10,000 at the Spooky Carnival, and we're looking to the community to support us by coming along and having a whole heap of fun for a good cause,’’ Ms Burley said.
She said Halloween, which falls on Monday, October 31, had become a ‘’celebrated event in our modern Australian culture’’.
‘’But many parents are uncomfortable with their children trick-or-treating. Our Spooky Carnival on the Friday evening before Halloween allows the kids to celebrate in a fun, safe environment,’’ Ms Burley said.
‘’And those that want to trick-or-treat can still do so when Halloween falls on Monday.’’
The Spooky Carnival runs from 4-9pm. Helensburgh Public School is in Fletcher Street, Helensburgh.
