Kimmorley has been appointed assistant to Leeds mentor Brian McDermott with the USA, a nation which made its World Cup debut in 2013. Kimmorley has had coaching and media roles in the NRL, before taking Wests to this year’s Illawarra Coal League grand final, where they were beaten by a star-studded Dapto.
“I look forward to sharing my knowledge of the game and assisting the players with their performance not only in the World Cup, but also when they return to America,” Kimmorley said.
“I have played in a World Cup and view it as the pinnacle of international game and will do my best to achieve the best results that we can.”
The World Cup is being held in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, starting in October, but Wollongong missed out on hosting a game.
