It’s a fantastic achievement for the school and its troupe of young performers, coming top out of more than 200 schools across Australia.
Their dance called “Be Inspired” won over the judges against some stiff competition from Sydney schools. Dapto Public also won the “entertainment” category.
The students are still on cloud nine after the wins, which came after months and months of hard work.
Dapto Public School has a history of high achievement in Wakakirri and the J Rock competition before it.
Probably the best known product of Dapto Public’s creative arts classes is Cyrus Villaneuva, who won the TV talent quest X-Factor last year.
Cyrus popped in to watch Dapto’s Wakakirri performance this year and hung out with the students backstage.
