A car mysteriously stranded on the soft sands of Stanwell Park Beach on the weekend has now been removed.
The 290 people taking part in the Burgh2Beach Charity Race yesterday morning were greeted with an unusual site as they crossed the finish line.
The car, which had spent the night on the beach, gave competitors plenty to talk about.
A Wollongong City Council spokesman said the matter had been reported to police and the car removed.
