But none more so than a big man with a white mustache who took the ships captain to a Harley heaven.
When Steve Melchior, of Just Cruisin’ Harley Tours, heard Captain Goran Peterson owned a bike and was keen to visit the Harley Days event in Stuart Park he offered to give him a guided tour. He also gave him a ride up the Illawarra Escarpment on his 1600cc Boom Trike.
That night as the Royal Caribbean cruise ship was sailing for Sydney the captain made a ship-wide announcement about what a fantastic day he had enjoyed, how friendly Wollongong people are and how he definitely wants to keep coming back.
“He said his daughter is only four years away from being a captain as well,” Mr Melchior said.
“He had such a good time at Harley Days. He spent an hour walking around all the stalls and had a look at all the accessory items. And he was rapped when he saw the new latest model Harley. Then we went up to Mount Keira and the ship just stood out. He took a heap of photos of it in the harbour. He loved that. I would have loved to take him to Bald Hill and back but we can do that next time.”
