Dicey Riley’s Irish Pub has undergone quite a transformation in case you haven’t been there lately - with a refurbishment, new chef and menu, it’s well worth a visit again!
Dicey's, as it is popularly known, is in a period of change undergoing a renaissance with the vision of restoring the unique Hotel into a five-star classic pub with plenty of character and soul.
George, Dicey’s owner, has teamed up with well-known chef and restauranteur Anthony Moss to provide good quality pub fare at an affordable price.
Great $10 lunches are available seven days a week along with a comprehensive menu of classic pub dishes value priced $10-$20 including Irish influenced dishes.
These include hand-made Guinness pie with golden pastry and pan gravy; Irish butcher free range pork sausages with fennel slaw and hand cut fat chips; crispy skin Atlantic salmon fillet in Irish whisky and honey-drenched pan sauce. Pub classics like panko hand crumbed 200g chicken schnitzel with choice of fresh salad, hand cut chips or steamed greens.
Check out the Monday night student special, a $12 burger and a schooner of Coopers beer - Dicey’s is a uni-friendly pub.
From December 1, they are offering a Christmas lunch for $25 including sourdough bread to start, roast turkey & ham, main with trimmings and an Irish panacotta, berries & toffee shard dessert.

The bistro has been refurbished in line with its original Boston/Irish charm giving the room a new fresh feel with plenty of warmth and character. Old Irish posters, period lighting, antique props, cottage tiles and timbers have combined to create an innate style. This showcases when The Illawarra Chamber of Commerce hosts its “Business at the Bar” event on November 23.
Most people don’t realise they have a bottle shop that closes at 10pm daily and a carpark at the rear via their driveway adjacent to the pub. They have increased the bottle shop range and reduced prices across the board. For example, an entire shelf section for wines under $10, a case of beer for $35 and budget ranges of bourbon and vodka for only $32.
The live music scene at Dicey’s is really exciting. Friday and Saturday nights play host to original live Indy Pub Rock and is pulling good crowds. On Saturday December 10, they are hosting with Helter Smelter “Hyfest” headlined by King Parrot and Front End Loader.
George says, “Dicey's is undergoing great change from its old perceived ways into - for want of a better expression – ‘old school cool’ and it is up to us to guide Dicey's back into the polished classic pub Wollongong will once again come to love.
See you at the bar this festive season with some friendly banter and a cheery smile from our staff.
