As our front page suggests, the Illawarra region is again about to catch “cabin fever” all in the aid of helping our children who are doing it tough.
This region rallies like no other and on Sunday we will line the roads to watch the trucks and other assorted vehicles of the Illawarra roll by in the i98 Illawarra Convoy.
The Illawarra Mercury is a proud supporter of the event and we hope to see you lining the road on Sunday with your poster.
A hearty congratulations to the i98 crew and everyone who has thrown their support behind this year’s event already.
A special thank you to the “The Dandaloo Boys” (a collection of Illawarra businesses including Rob and Anthony Starcic and Alan Doherty) who donated $300,000 to get the lead truck spot in this year’s event.
This is the 12th year of Convoy and this year will see the event broaden the charitable reach of the event further than just the traditional partner Camp Quality.
Already $1.3 million has been raised for this year’s expected which is expected to top a whopping $2 million.
Get down to the Family Fun Day at the Croome Rd Sporting Complex and join in the fun.
ARIA award winning artist Alex Lloyd will headline the entertainment at the complex, while another major attraction will be the Yatcon Civil FMX Jam which will see some of the world’s best motorcycle riders performing death-defying stunts.
The i98 Illawarra Convoy is a perfect example of the community spirit that makes this region so special.
