Illawarra’s under 16 representative side celebrated their first win of the season with a tense two wicket away triumph over Manly in the CS Watson Shield.

Illawarra chased down a challenging target of 9/181 to win with two balls to spare in an excellent contest.
Illawarra’s middle order batting of Tyler Warrington (28), skipper Jack Collimore (47), Callum Dodds (25) and Mitchel Stojanovski (22 not out/16 balls) played key roles in a strong run chase.
Five Illawarra bowlers took a wicket with Brodie Murrell taking 1/32, Matthew Watson (2/25), Brodie Merchant (2/17), Collimore (1/20) and Owen Kocyan (2/16) bowling well, making it a complete team effort in contributing to the win.
It was the fifth and final round in the rep season with the Illawarra 16s happy to have broken through for a win after playing some good cricket without success in the earlier rounds.
The win by the under 16s was Illawarra’s only victory in the final boys rep round before the playoff Qualifying Round this Sunday.
In the U12s Cawsey Shield, Illawarra was bowled out for 125 in a three wicket loss to Manly. Oliver Needham (30) top-scored with Hunter O’Donnell 2/17, Tom Giustiniani 2/22) bowling well.
In under 13s, Illawarra made 5/139 ( Rhys Cattle 67) in a six wicket loss to South Eastern.
In the under 14s Moore Shield, Canterbury Wests (2/312) outclassed Illawarra (125). Jamie Phillipson 29 (no) and Connor Gray (20) top-scored.
In the under 15s Weblin Shield, Parramatta (190) beat Illawarra (151).
Lachlan Brown (3/37) and Harry Williams 2/31 bowled well, while Ty Kroes (43), skipper James Stojanovski (41) and Flynn Patison (34) top-scored.
