In the wake of predicted thunderstorms forecast overnight, temperatures are expected to head into the 30s again on Tuesday with 34 being forecast for Shellharbour and 30 in Wollongong.
However forecasters are tipping that will change ahead of the weekend.
Temperatures are expected to drop to mid to low 20s later on the weekend and to sit a mid 20s into the weekend with mostly fine conditions prevailing across the Illawarra.
It coincides with another big weekend featuring Wonderwalls 2016, a three-day mural festival held across the CBD.
The festival hosts a wide range of events from Friday through to Sunday.
MTV’s biggest events, the MTV Beats and Eats Festival, also features at Stuart Park.
The music and food festival will feature top international and Australian DJs including Tigerlily, Steve Aoki and Savage.
The other major event across the weekend in the Illawarra will be on the sporting field.
The Australian Baseball League will be held at Thomas Dalton Park in Fairy Meadow.
It will be the first ever ABL clash in Wollongong with the Canberra Cavalry taking on the Sydney Blue Sox.
