Two women aged 32 and 19 appeared before Wollongong Local Court on Thursday, charged with robbery in company.
The 19-year-old, of Dapto, also faces charges of reckless driving and possessing a prohibited drug – cannabis.
Police allege the pair were loading goods into a white Mitsubishi Magna on the rooftop carpark at Stockland Shellharbour about 1pm Wednesday when they were spotted by a woman who worked at a store within the shopping centre.
The staffer believed the pair had stolen items from her store and photographed the car as it drove away.
The car stopped and a confrontation ensued before one of the duo allegedly stole the woman’s phone. Police say the woman was reaching into the car to retrieve her phone when she was dragged a short distance, before falling to the ground.
Both accused women were refused bail on Thursday. Their matters will return to court in January.
A police investigation into the claims of stolen goods is ongoing.
