Yesterday, December 1, not only heralded the start of summer, but more importantly to some, the season opening for the iconic Murray cod.
There have been a few absolute horse-sized fish caught and released over the past few weeks by guys targeting golden perch. They say the cod were a by-catch but some say it was like a season opening pre-fish and a few crews were chatted to by DPI/Fisheries enforcement.
By all means catch these big fish but practise CPR – catch, photo, release.
Mark from Kiama Game FC Club said there will be a Christmas meeting tonight at Kiama Leagues from 7pm with a limited amount of refreshments.
Snapper are about with charter boat Seaker getting amongst them and young Josh Thomas had his hands full with a 12 kilo kingfish nailed fishing off the rocks.
The annual Shimano Children's Charity Fishing Comp is fast approaching and is scheduled for Sunday, January 8.
