After an early start to complete round one, because play was suspended on Thursday due to a thunderstorm, Zunic’s second round was in a precarious position with nine holes to play.
However, a birdie at the first hole, his 10th of the day and again on the final hole ensured Zunic signed off par with the course.
It came after a double bogey and bogey to complete the first round in 73.
With weekend action booked, Zunic will tune up for next week’s web.com qualifying tour final tournament in Florida, hoping to secure his second-tier 2017 US card.
Fellow Illawarra golfer Lincoln Tighe missed the cut, however, dropping four shots on the back nine to finish at +4. Tighe had made a promising start in the first round, finishing with a one-under 71, but could only scramble to a round of 77 on Friday.
