Police say a 29-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man entered a home on Clematis Crescent where they confronted a 35-year-old woman.
It will be alleged the younger woman was armed with a metal pole when she approached the older woman and assaulted her.
The woman suffered an injury to her arm before other occupants intervened. The pair left the home prior to the arrival of police.
Officers from Lake Illawarra police set-up a crime scene, which was later examined by forensic police and detectives.
The woman was taken to Shellharbour Hospital where she received treatment for a wound to her arm.
About 5pm on Monday, police visited a home on Mimosa Way at Barrack Heights, where they arrested a man and woman after a brief struggle.
They were taken to Lake Illawarra police station where the 29-year-old woman was charged with reckless wounding (domestic violence-related), aggravated entry to the home while armed and resisting arrest.
She was given bail and will appear in Port Kembla Local Court on December 14.
The man was released without charge. Inquiries continue.
