On Friday the duo will bring their powerful singing performances to Shellharbour’s Carols by Candlelight event.
But the December 9 spectacular at Reddall Reserve, Lake Illawarra will also feature Shell Cove siblings Mackenzie and Emerson Garcia, who will break their busy touring schedules and again return to the carols’ stage to entertain the crowds.
Dionne Garcia said her children loved nothing more than performing in front of family and friends.
“They’ve performed in the carols in the past and have always enjoyed it,’’ Ms Garcia said.
Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said this year’s carols spectacular involved 29 performers, including seasoned professional singers, both young and old.
“Our carols event is a highlight in the region’s Christmas calendar, attracting thousands of people to our foreshore each year,’’ Cr Saliba said.
“This spectacular event brings exceptional vocalists and performers to the stage to dazzle the crowds and welcome in the festive season.’’
Much attention on Friday will be on former Ten Tenors group members Brown and Turnbull.
Both men toured extensively with the tenors group, performing 250 sold out shows around the world each year as well as at the AFL grand final, Eurovision Song Contest finals and numerous appearances on national network television in America and Europe.
At the other end of the spectrum is young sibling professional performers Mackenzie and Emerson Garcia.
Mackenzie has already made her mark on the musical theatre realm, performing as Jane Banks in the Australian production of Mary Poppins, and has featured as vocalist in Southern Stars since 2013 and the ISE Regional Touring Ensemble since 2014.
The 16-year-old started her career on the stage of the Carols by Candlelight event in 2007 and was eventually joined by her younger brother, Emerson in 2013.
Emerson is now 12 years old and last year toured with the Australian production of Les Miserables in the role of Gavroche. He has also performed in numerous local theatre productions and was a featured vocalist in Southern Stars this year.
The duo will be joined on stage by The Disability Trust’s Music Makers, who will again brighten the stage with their performers and dancers. The event starts at 5.30pm, with the fireworks display at 8.30pm.
