Lots of boats headed out to the shelf to take advantage of the favourable weather forecast but unfortunately lots of nautical miles travelled for very few fish.
There were a couple of marlin caught including a nice blue for Keaton Hartley that pulled the scales down to 117.7kgs and was his first marlin.
There were also a lot of reports of fish being seen hunting bait balls on the way back inside from the shelf anywhere along the 70-150 fathom mark.
For the snapper fishos it was a little tough out there but those who persisted were rewarded with some great captures.
The deeper reefs have still been holding some great fish between the 2-3kg mark, as well as some big blue mowies and the very tasty pigfish.
Most fishos’ attention has been focused on the great run of kingfish we have been seeing of late up and down our coastline.
Michael Moon and Jason Murton headed down to Jervis Bay to see if they could get onto a couple to raise the bar on their personal bests.
Jason was elated to nail a solid 11.5 kilo king and that was after cleaning.
There have been some awesome fish seen locally out of Bellambi and Port Kembla as well with a couple of customers hooking up with quite heavy gear to only end up on their backsides when the big hoods rubbed them off on the bottom in the very shallow water that they have been cruising in.
Beaches have again fired over the last week especially for Callum Taylor.
After putting in countless hours fishing every opportunity with his father Wayne, he finally cracked it last Sunday night with a sensational 28 kilo mulloway.
The smile on his dial will last forever.
Still plenty of whiting about as well as bream and some good flathead.
Bass fishos are rejoicing after some heavy falls this week as there have been some excellent catch and releases.
