It goes without saying that both players at the height of their careers were world class and I have no doubt they could still bring an abundance to the A-League.

Keane was a proven goalscorer in the English Premier League and continued that form when he moved to the MLS, scoring two out of every three games up until the end of his stint earlier this year.

Berbatov is very much a different style of striker, but had similar great success in the EPL and abroad.

As a fellow striker, both are the sort of players you dream about playing alongside.

I’d imagine all of the other boys would feel similar so for either of them to come to our great club would be incredible.

We haven’t had a big name marquee man of their calibre since Shinji Uno.

History will tell you that Shinji turned out to be an absolute star during his time in the league.

There is no doubt in my mind either of those two players could have a similar impact if they did come to Sydney’s west.

And they would almost certainly strengthen our squad.

Obviously it’s just talk at the moment and everything is far from set in stone.

But with our Asian Champions League campaign approaching and a marquee spot up our sleeve, we do have the space to bolster our squad.

Currently, we only have the one marquee in Nicolas Martinez.

Nico’s start to his first season in red and black has been absolutely outstanding.

Make no mistake, he is a supreme talent.

In my eyes, the way he is going he could have the kind of impact for us that Shinji did during his time at the club.

He was pure class again last weekend when we finally snatched an elusive victory against the Central Coast Mariners.

We made ourselves do it the hard way after going a goal behind early on, but easily ran away 4-1 winners despite losing Jerrad Tyson late in the match.

All in all it was a fairly strong team performance.

But the best thing about the convincing result is that we know we can play better than we did.

While the margin of victory was massive and we played well in patches, there is still so much we can improve on.

It will give us a lot of confidence of what we can achieve going forward.

However, we certainly aren’t planning on sleeping on the win.

More than ever we will need to be up to the mark with a rematch against the Melbourne Victory looming at home this weekend.

It will be a bit of a revenge game for us after losing 3-0 to the Victory less than a month ago.

Again it will be another opportunity for us to finally grab that first home victory of the season with both hands.

It’s already round 10 so our loyal supporters have waited definitely waited long enough to see us take a win home soil. It mightn’t be at our regular home pitch at Spotless Stadium, but that won’t matter if we can leave with the points.
