Three young recruits graduated from the 2016 program on Friday and encouraged students who have just completed their HSC to consider doing the same and apply for a traineeship to help them kickstart a career in the financial services industry.
Taylah Grant said the last 12 months had been a wonderful learning experience.
A graduate from the first intake in 2005 also spoke about her involvement in the program when it started and how it had given her a foundation that has helped her progress through her career to a management level. Jodi Crewdson is now the Digital Team team leader at IMB Bank’s Contact Centre.
Also present was IMB Banking Services Team business/project analyst Naomi Ashton who has also remained at IMB since the original program intake.
Ms Grant, Julia Russell and Deniz Karaerik were presented graduation certificates by CEO Robert Ryan who said the program was among the state’s best. And encouraged applications to imbcareers.com.au. “We have recruited 104 trainees since 2005 and 94 per cent of them went on to work with IMB in permanent roles,” Mr Ryan said.
“Both Jodi and Naomi are great examples of the career path a traineeship offers and I would urge any HSC student who might be interested to apply now for our next intake in 2017. There are many career paths that can be chosen such as business, marketing, project management, human resources, IT, call centre or retail banking”.
IMB’s trainees have also been recognised on a state basis with three being finalists for the NSW Trainee of the Year award.
There has also been 18 winners in the Regional Trainee of the Year awards.
And in 2016, IMB was a finalist at the Australian Retail Banking Awards in the career development category.
Mr Ryan said many trainees not only went on to work at IMB Bank but do further study to help them develop themselves and progress their careers.
Cheerie Simpson and Cameron Holden obtained tertiary qualifications throughout the year, supported by the bank, and were present at the graduation.
IMB Bank has five retail banking traineeships to offer for 2017 and applications can be made now at imbcareers.com.au.
Organisational development manager Kirsty Shee oversees the program and said the trainees were always great to work with.
