Christmas presents the opportunity for every Christian community to welcome – with renewed vigour and commitment – the Christ-child into their midst, and declare that God is truly present in the world, most especially wherever there is suffering.
The Incarnation – God becomes one of us “in the flesh” – tells us that God wants to be involved with each one of us. No matter who we are or what type of year we’ve had, there is that one constant in the Christian psyche that, deep down, we know that God would never turn Himself away from us.
As we celebrate Christmas in the way we know best, at “Christ’s Mass”, we have the chance to bring every aspect of our lives to Him by welcoming the infant Jesus into our lives.

Why not come home this Christmas and be part of a community that celebrates the “wow” of Christmas in its truest sense?
Lumen Christi Catholic Parishes in Wollongong have Masses for all.
The Vigil Masses at Saint Brigid’s Gwynneville (5pm), Saint John Vianney’s Fairy Meadow (6pm), Saint Francis Xavier Cathedral Wollongong (7pm) and Mater Dolorosa Balgownie (8pm) are more geared to children and families.
The liturgical high point is the Christmas Midnight Mass beginning with carols at 11.15pm at the Cathedral. On Christmas Day there are Masses to suit everyone at the Cathedral: 7am, 9am, 10.30am and a 5pm Mass with music led by the young people. There is also an 8.30am Mass at Fairy Meadow, 9am at Gwynneville and 10am at Balgownie.
