A similar welcome is anticipated for the second of Royal Caribbean’s vessels to grace our harbour, the Voyager of the Seas.
The city of Wollongong cemented it’s status as a cruise friendly destination with the first visit and it’s important for the continued growth of visits to this region that the feeling is repeated for the second visit.
The Voyager of the Seas is a much bigger vessel.
Over 4000 passengers, let alone the ship’s crew, will disembark on Tuesday morning.
While many will undertake pre-organised tours, many will catch one of the many shuttle buses direct into the city where they will be greeted by enthusiastic local volunteers in the Arts Precinct.
Despite it being a public holiday, many businesses in the city centre are taking the opportunity to open their doors and hopefully cash in on some custom which might not normally come their way.
Thank you to those local businesses who have chosen to show that Wollongong is open for business.
Welcome the cruise ship passengers with open arms if you are out and about in the city.
Also take the opportunity to watch what is a bigger vessel than the Radiance sail into or out of the harbour.

FIREWORKS AT THE WEC
There will plenty of fireworks around the city on Saturday and even some indoors.
Fireworks are expected to erupt at the WIN Entertainment Centre on Saturday night as the Illawarra Hawks again confront their arch nemesis, the Perth Wildcats.
Since ending their hoodoo against the Wildcats in Perth earlier this year, the Illawarra Hawks have turned their season on its head and now sit second on the National Basketball League ladder.
The Wildcats, a giant of the NBL, are in a world of hurt – sacking the same import for a second time last week and could possibility miss finals for the first time ever in their history. The Wildcats currently sit last on the NBL ladder. The Hawks have a good run of home games now into the finals, get right behind them.
