The high-flying Illawarra Hawks will play reigning NBL champions Perth Wildcats at the WEC.
The December 31 clash tips-off at the special time of 5.30pm to allow fans to head to the nearby Wollongong foreshore after the match to enjoy planned festivities including amusement rides, roaming performers, music and fireworks display.
The amusement ride zone will operate from 10am on Saturday through to Monday, January 2.
Wollongong City Council public relations manager Susan Wardle encouraged people to use public transport if possible.
‘’We recommend catching the train to Fairy Meadow, North Wollongong or Wollongong stations, and then jumping on the free Gong Shuttle Bus,’’ she said.
‘’There will be limited parking available at Lang Park, Stuart Park and Flagstaff Hill.’’
