‘Gaining the Unexpected’ will be the theme when Illawarra residents are invited to celebrate International Women’s Day 2017.
The International Women’s Day event will take place on March 8 at the Nan Tien Temple’s Auditorium.
The Australian Centre for Leadership for Women will celebrate the day, with Kiama resident Dr Diann Rodgers-Healey, director of ACLW facilitating the program.
The event will seek to profile and celebrate the unique leadership of women in the Illawarra.
The keynote speaker will be Jenny Macklin, Shadow Minister for Families and Social Services.
The program will also include a panel of Illawarra female leaders.
Panelists include Member for Cunningham Sharon Bird; Wodi Wodi Elder Aunty Joyce Donovan; co-ordinator of the Illawarra OWN Wellness Centre, Barbara Malcolm; and Rebecca Schmidt, a StrokeSafe ambassador for the Stroke Foundation Australia and board member of the StrokeSafe Consumer Council.

The ACLW’s 2017 Illawarra High School IWD Essay Competition for Young Women will also take place in conjunction with the event.
