IN such a tight race for the play-offs it’s easy for a coach and team’s faith in a system to waver but that’s why you implement a system in the first place. Those systems are designed to withstand pressure both withing games and throughout a season.
I believe that’s why Adelaide have manged to kick away from the pack. Joey Wright believes in his game plan and he’s got his players believing in it and executing it. He’d rather lose by 20 playing up and down than winning by a point in the half-court.
It’s also why Perth have stormed back into contention. They’ve had their injury worries and problems with imports but those experienced guys, the Greg Hire’s, the Matty Knight’s, the Damian Martin’s know exactly how Trevor Gleeson wants to play and they can execute it under pressure.
We’ve beaten every team in this league – bar Cairns – and we know we have the blueprint to get it done. Our challenge over the next five weeks is to execute. We do that, we can beat anyone.
