IRT Foundation will be holding the expo at Wollongong Town Hall on February 15 thanks to a $60,000 state government grant.
Ms Murray said some 400 people were expected to attend the expo, which would have up to 40 exhibitors.
‘’As the workforce ages increasingly jobs change and older people find themselves less relevant,’’ she said.
‘’This expo will provide people over 50 with an opportunity to assess their skills, and what opportunities there might be going forward.
‘’It will help them identify how to upskill or change their skills set to be future ready as jobs change.’’
Ms Murray said with the unemployment rate for people over 55 around 10 per cent in Wollongong, the expo was an important initiative.
She said a range of exhibitors had already joined up, and encouraged more businesses to come on board.
Mr Ajaka added: ‘’Employment for seniors is fundamental for their physical, emotional and financial well-being. This government is committed to ensuring all opportunities are provided to assist our seniors to maintain – or change – their employment and continue to be active members of their communities.’’
Registrations for exhibitors close on January 31.
