This “do nothing’ Turnbull Government has moved on to do nothing in the foreign affairs area in its failure to support the USA's criticism of Israel's expansion into the occupied Palestinian West Bank.

Julie Bishop stated the government supports a two State solution to the conflict between the Palestinians and Israelis.  As the US Secretary of State, John Kerry, points out, if the building of settlements within the occupation territories continue there will be no two State resolution and no possibility for peace.

These arrogant acts of provocation sends a message to the world that the Government of Benjamin Netanyahu has no concerns for the lives of either Israelis or Palestinians. That they are not really committed to peace.  To date this arrogance has come with the knowledge and confidence of US support.  

The only people supporting this policy now are settlers and potential settlers. Most Israelis don't support the Government's policy. The people as usual are right. There will be no peace while the settlements continue to expand. Can Trump hold the line?  I'm afraid unlikely.

I am unaware of anyone or group opposing Skydive Australia operating out of Wollongong. Why then is Destination Wollongong, the Illawarra Business Chamber (IBC) and Wollongong City Council (WCC) failing to address the existing leased alternative at Dalton Park?

An objective cost - benefit analysis would favour the Dalton Park option and return Stuart Park to the community for which it designated.  Why has WCC not revealed the outcome of their cost benefit analysis between Stuart and Dalton Park?

Reportedly the Lord Mayor favours strongly 'delegated authority' to the staff. If so then staff is expected to provide rigorous analysis to make a legitimate case for either site and to make it public.

Delegated authority takes responsibility out of the hands of elected community representative (Councillors), thus diminishing  their ability to serve a commitment to transparency and Council staff apparently may hide dealings and disclosure behind the screen of 'commercial in confidence'.

The public debate has focussed on employment, tourism, and business growth. These items are irrelevant for two reasons. ie; First the alternate use of Dalton Park would not be expected to diminish the popularity or profitability of Skydive Australia; Secondly the issue of usage at Stuart Park is a legal one.

WCC is either wittingly or unwittingly appears to be non compliant with a State Ministerial directive given to the Plan of Management of Stuart Park  in 2000 by the then Minister for Land & Water, the Hon Richard Amery MP.

Councillors - not staff  - are the Trustees of Stuart Park. Councillors have every right to ask for more information on Council's legal position with respect to development on Crown Land.

A lot of heat would go out the debate on Skydive using Stuart Park if it paid commercial rates for using public land rather the very cheap rates currently applying. Ratepayers deserves a return for allowing the use of a public asset.  As for giving land to a private organisation, this is not acceptable.
