Unfortunately listing agent Rolf Lokker has had to disappoint them.
If a developer wanted to knock the house down, that is units 5 and 6, to make way for another Cliff Road high rise they would have to convince the owners of the remaining four units (a separate structure next door) to sell up also.
The “charming” four-bedroom, two-bathroom family home is up for sale and sits opposite North Beach SLSC with views of the ocean.
It could be the golden the last freestanding house on the golden strip. The double-storey property has been split into two titles and could be occupied as a single residence or two.
Mr Lokker said it was built in the late 1930s before a number of flats were built next door some 20 or 30 years later.
“The whole complex [began] strata in 1967,” he said.
“The front is Lot 5 and that is an upstairs and a downstairs. Then there’s adjoining doors that take you through to Lot 6. This family uses it as a home.”
The property has been with the same family for 55 years but has become too big for its occupants who will downsize after the auction.
“People are asking me for a price guide and after 26 years of working in North Wollongong … I don’t know what it’s worth because I’ve got nothing to compare it with. It’s that special. To find a comparable is mission impossible at the moment.,” Mr Lokker said.
He said a family looking to buy a nice home may be keen to buy it, or two Sydney buyers may split it as a holiday investment as “they’re all buying weekenders up at Austi for $1.5 million and they go halves”.
Lot 5 sits at the front of the residence on two levels of 83.9 square metres, with an upstairs galley kitchen and living area opening out to a balcony overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Lot 6 is at the rear over one level with 71.5 square metres and includes lounge and dining areas, two bedrooms, large kitchen, outdoor covered entertainment area and established gardens.
In the past 12 months, sales records show only apartment sales along Cliff Road and range from $650,000 to $2,300,000.
Units 5 & 6/20-22 Cliff Road, North Wollongong will be sold together as one package via auction onsite, Saturday February 25.
