The new Nine News Illawarra bulletin is being launched on Monday February 13.
A local team made up of reporters and cameramen has been appointed in recent months.
The one-hour bulletins will be broadcast each week night from 6pm with a mix of local news, sport and weather with national and international news.
The anchor is Vanessa O’Hanlon who is based in Sydney.
The Illawarra bulletin is the second in a series of Nine News regional bulletins being to be rolled out in coming months as part of an expansion of news operations in Australia. The local news-gathering staff is being supported by production and editorial staff based in Sydney as part of Nine’s new regional news division.
Nine Network regional news director Mike Dalton said the first bulletin in the regional expansion across Australia is being launched in Canberra on Monday night.
“Then, one week later it will be Wollongong’s turn,” Mr Dalton said.
SCA chief executive Grant Blackley said “we are pleased to be able to broadcast a Wollongong based news service for our viewers”.
