They will do just that on Sunday, February 19 when they team with Landcare Illawarra to host an open day at their Otford centre.
And, it’s hoped like-minded people will join in and reconnect with nature, share nourishing healthy food and take part in Landcare activities to restore the natural bushland.
Event spokesperson Wendy Saunders said guests will be treated to a guided walk and talk with the director of Govinda Valley, who will talk about the history and future of the property.
The retreat centre’s volunteers have been building an organic vegetable and herb terrace garden for use in Govinda Valley’s vegetarian kitchen, reducing the carbon footprint.
Ms Saunders said the centre hopes to complete its sustainability model by establishing an ongoing Landcare group with support from Landcare Illawarra, and opening its doors to more community gardening opportunities.
It welcomed new volunteers.
We’re really excited to open our doors to the community and work on our permaculture vision.

‘’Landcare Illawarra coming to Govinda Valley is a unique opportunity to learn about the local ecology. We’re really excited to open our doors to the community and work on our permaculture vision,’’ she said.
Nestled on the southern edge of the Royal National Park and just a brief walk from Otford Railway Station, Govinda Valley is a not for profit organisation which works with local and international volunteers.
