It is the same restaurant that officially achieved an international first by introducing fine dining and table service with plates in 2013. Then in 2015 the Dwarte family took that idea a step further by inviting couples and families to book a Valentine’s Day dinner at the Warilla fast-food outlet.
John Dwarte said he managed to book out both sittings each year and will be doing two sittings again next Tuesday.
The family who give back to the community at every opportunity want to provide an easy affordable option for people to consider. And they have had no shortage of interest.
“We are doing it at Warilla again just because we have a better ambiance there with the booths … which are a bit more intimate,” Mr Dwarte said.
“We rolled the red carpet out the door last year and we had a little marquee set up outside with some solar lights so when it got dark the path was all lit. It looked really nice and we will be doing that again. We will be dressing up the restaurant again this year. The tables will look really good.”
Mr Dwarte said there would be a 6pm and an 8pm seating on Valentine’s Day with table service including cutlery, glasses and crockery. McDonald’s Warilla will also be introducing something new to Australian this year.
“We are having a set menu with some burgers and a salad option. And we are launching a gourmet creation nation wide. It is going to be a new menu we will be showcasing to the public on Valentine’s Day. It is launching for NSW on the 28th of February. We will also have an entree set up and dessert.”
Mr Dwarte said two young men renowned for their customer service at the restaurant will be dressed in suits with vests and bow ties doing table service under the watchful eye of the restaurant’s event coordinator for the night Tegan Madruga with the help of Mrs Dwarte who dresses up especially for the occasion.
“We were actually getting calls last weekend from people wanting to know if we are doing it again and wanting to book in early. We have had one couple already book who said they had come the last two years. Bookings are essential. Last year we filled up and we had a waiting list. I am assuming this year is going to be much the same. We will have plenty of staff on. We are expecting a busy night.”
Mr Dwarte said they’ve not had a proposal at a Valentine’s dinner as yet but do have a couple who met at McDonald’s Warilla who come every Valentine’s Day to celebrate.
