That’s precisely how Giants Netball mid-courter Taylah Davies feels about the lead up to the new Super Netball season that gets underway with a Sydney derby at Homebush on Saturday.
The Northern Suburbs junior played five games for the Swifts over two seasons in 2014-15 but feels she’s career best condition and ready to put her stamp on the world’s premier domestic league with the Giants in 2017.
“Preseason has been really tough, one of the hardest I’ve ever done, but we’re all looking really strong and you can see that out on court,” Davies said.
“My body’s in the best shape it’s ever been and I think it’s going to be a really important year for me to stamp my ground and really give it a good crack.
“Whatever opportunity I get on court I just want to give it everything I’ve got. I know I’m good enough to be there so now it’s just proving that to myself and others out there that I can do it.”
Davies is confident the fledgling Giants franchise is also ready to establish itself as a dominant force in the new league.
“There’s a great mix of youth and experience there and I think we’re combining really well on court and off,” Davies said.
“Being a whole new league, teams look very different to previous years but we’ve had a few preseason hit-outs to see how we compare and we’ve gone pretty well.
“We’ve had a good couple of wins and we’ve still got lost of improvement to make before our first game and into the start of the season which is really exciting.”
