Destination Wollongong general manager Mark Sleigh put the call out on Friday for seven volunteers to visit Circular Quay to hand out information to international cruise ship passengers. And show them the big welcome they can expect on Thursday.
Norwegian Star’s day tour of Sydney is the last stop before Norwegian Cruise Lines’ maiden voyage to Port Kembla arrives. Mr Sleigh said the unexpected visit next Thursday is another wonderful opportunity to showcase Wollongong to international cruise lines and travelers. He said anyone interested can contact #cruisewollongong at cruise@wollongong.nsw.gov.au. They day will include an international passenger terminal tour.
Mr Sleigh said comments made by Norwegian Cruise Lines senior vice president and Asia Pacific managing director Steve O’Dell showed what Wollongong is doing is working. Mr O’Dell said the company was coming because of the experiences that can be had and friendly welcoming reputation of Wollongong people. Mr Sleigh said it appeared the word was really getting out.
