However many people see the 34-year-old’s chiseled grin and rippling abs, they forget he is also a health physician. But Robards doesn’t mind.
He’s happy to have his finely shaped abdominal muscles splayed across magazine covers.
“As a health professional I think it’s important to practice what you preach. If you don’t have abs it doesn’t mean you’re not healthy, but I think it’s important for me to walk my talk and to promote a healthy body, a healthy physique inside and out,” he said.
“I’m not an infatuated bodybuilder where I have to have abs and eat brown rice and chicken all day.
“I’m pretty real and balanced in my food, but because of that I have a physique and if [the media] want to show that then if it can encourage other people to be healthier then I think that’s a good thing.”
Robards, 34, is a practicing chiropractor with qualifications in exercise science from the University of Wollongong and will leave the glitz and glam of Sydney for one night to bring his knowledge to Shellharbour.
He’s been asked to help mothers and mums-to-be balance their lives, though was quick to note it’s in not in anyway linked to his beloved Anna expect.
He laughed and said they will not be having kids “any time soon”, but wants to give mums the basics on how to look after themselves.
“It’s like when you get on a plane and you read the safety manual and it says fit your mask before fitting others,” he explained.
“And I think that’s one ting I think a lot of mothers don’t do is they give so much to their kids and everyone else.”
Despite his gender, Robards reiterated he has a lot of knowledge and practice with working with women and teaching them the fundamentals for a healthy mind and body.
“We don’t just learn how to crack backs, we learn how to diagnose everything that you would need to medically, we’re a primary healthcare practitioner,” he said.
“You need to understand the ins and outs of the human body.
“I’m not necessarily trying to cure cancer but I’m just trying to educate people on what their body needs and what it doesn’t need.”
Robards will be joined by wellness coach Marcus Pearce and Illawarra chiropractor Maria Zushcmann for the “Mums Just Wanna Have Fun” evening at Central Hotel, Shellharbour, March 15.
