The enhanced re-use store, which was officially re-opened on Tuesday, includes a new awning that provides a sizable all-weather area for customers, dedicated customer drop-off locations, shop parking and a new re-use and repair studio called “The Tinkerage”.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said the first stage of improvements to the Dunmore Recycle and Waste Depot was part of the $14.6 million Resource Recovery Redevelopment program of works.

‘’Modernising this facility is part of Council’s commitment to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill by making it more convenient and appealing for people to utilise this facility,’’ Cr Saliba said.

Resource Recovery Australia CEO John Weate said the social enterprise strived to create great retail experiences at its re-use stores. 

He said ‘’The Tinkerage’’ built by Barnacle Studio did just that, as it opened a new space at the Revolve Centre for workshops in reuse and repair.

Ms Saliba added the centre was also an inspiration for talented artists such as Anita Larkin, whose sculptures highlight that one person’s trash is definitely another person’s treasure.

Resource Recovery Australia regional manager Matty Curtis was also proud of the finished product.

‘’I commend Shellharbour Council on the improvements to Revolve. The new layout will allow our team to divert more resources from landfill and provide a positive shopping experience,’’ she said.
