After their daring fourth innings fightback in the drawn match in Wollongong against the ACT, the NSW Futures League were smashed by Western Australia.
Opener Jake Carder and captain Nic Hobson scored centuries, before Clinton Hinchcliffe continued the scoring spree, to take WA’s lead well past 200 runs on day two. The match featured Warilla junior Nic Maddinson, who made 38 on the opening day, providing vital resistance as NSW were rolled for 162. Gurinder Sandhu, one of three Futures League players considered for the Sheffield Shield match in Wollongong starting on Saturday, was wicketless, finishing 0-82 from 20 overs.
Maddinson played in Perth in a bid to regain some form, after being dropped from the Australian Test squad and losing the Big Bash final with the Sydney Sixers.
