I have a confession to make – I am actually a really horrible person.

Before you judge me please consider that I discovered this whilst actually being a really great person.
The other day I was making a donation via GoFundMe.
My psychologist sister is running a community program, and even though I am at the age one should be saving hard and fast (bypassing all avocado on toast, thanking my lucky stars I don’t rely on Sunday penalty rates), I wanted to do my bit for her altruistic cause and make a (huge) donation.
After I clicked-and-shared, a whole list of other causes popped up including one about a cat who had suffered a heinous injury and whose owners needed help covering the vet bill.
I chucked some cash the cats way too.
Then I got this really great feeling. It wasn’t the warm and fuzzies one feels when they are generous of spirit and contribute to a cause bigger and much greater than oneself; I was on a Power Trip.
If I won lotto I’d sit at my computer, a pasty overweight overlord; a generous aristocrat dolling out money to the causes I deem worthy of my riches, sustained only by my sense of goodwill and an endless supply of maltesers and Woolworths white chocolate mudcake.
A dollar for you, a slice for me.
If I can share any knowledge at all, it’s how important I think it is to give when and where you can.
And trust me, if it ain’t for the warm and fuzzies, do it for the Power Trip.
