HE’S a noted finals warrior and Matt Knight was outstanding for the Wildcats on Sunday night but Hawks fans – and perhaps a few Cairns fans as well – have a right to be a tad dirty at the fact he was there at all.

Hoopla has been critical of the NBL’s game review process a number of times this season but the fact Knight had a two-game suspension conveniently “suspended” at finals time went to new levels of ridiculousness.
No one wants to see players miss playoff games for minor offences in the flow of a game but Knight’s actions in intentionally throwing the ball at the head of Cairns guard Travis Trice with 34 seconds to go in a game the Cats already had in the bag was a bonehead move and didn’t warrant such leniency.
How can a guilty plea to an “intentional” offence with a base penalty of two games result in a player not even serving one? I’m sure plenty of Golden State Warriors fans wish Draymond Green’s suspension during the last season’s NBA finals had been ‘suspended’ but it was, rightly, not the case.
