What about cinematic history? A time when two young, fresh-faced mates would trump some of Hollywood’s biggest names to win Best Original Screenplay for their movie Good Will Hunting. Those two mates were Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
On the sporting field? A little known Australian speed skater by the name of Steven Bradbury became a household name when he simply stayed on his feet to win a Winter Olympic Gold Medal in 2002.

In a biblical sense, of course the most famous was David and Goliath. There stands Goliath, a mountain of a man covered in armour and armed with a javelin. Much smaller in stature stood, David with simple staff and sling. David had the last laugh though when the rock from his sling struck Goliath fair between the eyes and he face-planted into the dirt as a loser.
The NBL grand final series between the Illawarra Hawks and the Perth Wildcats is a David and Goliath contest. Perth stands, a massive organisation, it’s well-staffed offices lined with championship trophies.
Illawarra stand as a club of humble means which has come back from the brink to defy all doubters in the last two seasons. Now, down two games in the grand final series, the Hawks must carry nothing but a humble sling and walk into an arena packed of seething Perth “Red Army” Wildcats fans.
As a Hawk fan, it was hard not to feel that ominous sense of what lay ahead after the home loss during the week ….. that was until a friend and fellow Hawk supporter posted a picture to Twitter. The picture was of US President Donald Trump. Yep. Stranger things have already happened this year.
