Ms Frino is working with writer Nisrine Amine on a comedy titled Apricot. It’s one of 10 short films from regional areas to be given the creative cash boost.
To be eligible for the grant at least one woman needed to have a key creative role while each project needed to reflect diversity in the community with “strong representation from emerging Indigenous filmmakers, the LGBTIQ community and filmmakers from non-English speaking backgrounds”.
Create NSW CEO Michael Brealey said the selections include drama, web series, comedies and factual programs.
Teams will work with industry experts, including from Screen NSW and the ABC, who will offer production advice and feedback on the projects.
Finished films will screen on ABC online screening platforms.
