The hospital, which has been open for just over a year, has entered a team in MS Australia’s seventh Wollongong 24-hour Megaswim at the University of Wollongong on March 18-19.
At time of print the team had 15 members but group leader Ashlee Fripp expected 24 swimmers will swim laps over the 24-hour event.
‘’We are hopeful of getting a full team of 24 so people can swim one-hour each,’’ Miss Fripp said.
‘’I’ve done this event for the past four years and I’m glad to be a part of the Wollongong Private Hospital team this year. We are hopeful of raising at least $2500. We have already raised half of that.’’
Event organisers MS Australia and Figtree Lions Club have set a fundraising target of $40,000 this year.
Money raised from the Megaswim will finance special Go for Gold scholarships to help people living with MS to aspire to their best and live out a life long dream.
The previous six Wollongong MS Megaswims have raised almost $250,000 to help people suffering from multiple sclerosis.
