The Sharks were without Jillaroos flyer Sam Bremner, while fellow Helensburgh product Allana Ferguson was also an absentee, but proved too strong winning 20-4.
The Sharks did have Jillaroos skipper Ruan Sims on hand while Maddie Studdon showed her International class with a composed hand for the hosts. Kezie Apps also didn’t feature for the Dragons as she continues to nurse a leg fracture suffered in the recent Auckland Nines.
Jordan Baker opened the Sharks account early in the first half with Kate Mullaly’s runaway effort giving the hosts an 8-0 lead at the break. Shontelle Stowers scored soon after the resumption with Studdon’s conversion extending the lead to 14-0.
The Dragons hit back through Bree Morton two minutes from time before Stowers second closed the show on the bell.
