Whilst the punk rockers do have a new album hitting stores in May (Hi-vis High Tea), guitarist Lindsay “The Doctor” McDougall said they know what people really want.
“We’re very much aware most people who come to our concerts just want to hear the songs they got drunk to last time,” McDougall said.
“We don’t want people to get weirded out by us playing songs they haven’t heard before.”
He said fans heading to their Wollongong gig on Saturday can expect 30 of their “full tilter head” favorite songs before “we all go to The Harp for karaoke”.
Songs likely to be belted out by the guitarist at 1am on The Harp stage are “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, “Come Said the Boy” or “Horses”.
“Even the most diehard of Frenzal fans, [they] know the lyrics to the chorus of Horses or when to sing ‘turn around bright eye’,” he said, also admitting these songs often get a run in his solo acoustic gigs.
It’s been two years since McDougall said goodbye to his radio announcing life at Triple J and says he’s been avoiding “getting a regular job” ever since.
So the guitarist spends his days jamming, hanging with his wife Jen or fostering greyhounds.
“Greyhounds are very, very sedentary,” he said.
“Most of the time they just laze around like kings and queens and they’re wonderful. And a lot of them have come out of crazy situations.
“They’re so appreciative that they’re being treated like royalty.”
