It could have been more than three.
And that’s the important point for the Wanderers, we are creating scoring opportunities.
Of course it was amazing to score two goals and secure a crucial 3-1 victory over the Wellington Phoenix, a team we have to outlast to make the A-League finals.
To be the Western Sydney all-time leading goalscorer is an honour.
But there are more important milestones ahead.
For weeks in this column, I’ve been writing about how the Wanderers have been building to something special.
The pieces have been there, we just have to put them all together.
So beating the Phoenix is just the first piece.
There are crucial weeks ahead.
But success rides on the back of momentum.
For weeks, we just had to win, any way we could.
It didn’t have to be pretty, or fluent, or on the back of spectacular goals.
We just had to fight and be effective and keep working while it turned for us.
Beating Seoul midweek and then return to beat the Phoenix shows the hard work is starting to pay off.
As I said after the Wellington game, it’s really tough to return from an overseas trip in the Asian Champions League and back up with another great performance in the A-League.

That’s why coach Tony Popovic deserve credit once again for his man management.
Lachy Scott went over to Korea and scored his first ACL goal, but more broadly it was the heart and the fight we showed to take the three points and keep our hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive.
Again on Sunday, victory over the Phoenix we raced to a first-half lead and hopefully we can make a trademark of it for the rest of the season.
But you cannot just rely on starting well, it’s a big commitment to push towards the A-League final and hopefully some more success in the ACL. For all those who have doubted the Wanderers form and commitment this season, we are starting to show we have what it takes, but that only matters if we can make the A-League finals and beyond.
It all starts with a finals-like game against Melbourne City on Friday night at home.
They have great talent, resources and ambition.
We need to match that with all our determination.
With games ahead against Newcastle and Melbourne Victory, before finishing the season against Adelaide, our fate lies in our own hands.
But importantly we have to build on the moment we’ve created and keep the scoring chances coming.
