With today`s economy ploughing along, full steam ahead on an investment stream of market manipulators and wealth speculation, aided and supported by politicians there is little wonder the above illustrations bring to notice why growth is confined not to the economy but the wealthy and big business (including politicians).

What a weak-minded leader we have in the form of our “merchant banker raised” Malcom Turnbull when it is considered a complete economic turnaround can be achieved by the Reserve Bank raising the cash interest rate by .25 of a per cent.

In response to the article `Greens want debate on a four-day week’ (Illawarra Mercury, Thursday March 16, 2017) so the Greens want a national debate on a four-day working week, but not same-sex marriage?

Nothing like conveniently using democracy to push the pet projects of environmental-socialism.

Redefinition of marriage, indoctrination of children in same-sex lifestyle, stop development, close down sources of cheap reliable energy, shut down the economy through climate change and reduce full-time work to part-time.

The Greens are against the family, parental rights, freedom to think and the common good.

This makes them the ultimate wreckers of the freedoms and values we in Australia, cherish.

I went past the area the other day to see the spot where a young life was recently tragically lost.

I noted how easy for anyone in the circumstances could easily be sucked into the drain pipe in event of torrential rain and high floods.

Obviously the council is hesitant in such circumstances to put mesh or other means of safety barriers in front of such drains to avoid blockage of running debris or rubbish in the face of the drain,

However perhaps council could consider placing a handrail around the storm water drain high enough to be visible in any event of further flooding with intermittent hand rails from ground up spaced at, say approximate 200/300mm.

This would still leave passage for small to medium scrubs or rubbish to flow through the pipe without fear of blockage.

As the hand rail would be visible in any event of foods it could alert nearby people of the danger within.

So even after copping the “service cuts” and a 21 per cent rate rise this last three years, Mayor Bradbery tell us that “... next year’s budget would have a “tiny” $700,000 deficit `in theory’”.

Yeah right.

If, however, over say, the next 10 years, we actually spent the money required to get rid of the city’s not often mentioned “asset renewal backlog”.

You know, fix up the more than quarter billion dollars worth of broken roads, footpaths, bridges, stormwater drains et cetera.

Then, in fact, the city would be clocking up a deficit of about $25million a year, every year, for years.
