Van Krevel, once dubbed Belinda “van Evil”, was jailed for six years in 2001 for soliciting her then-lover Keith Schreiber to kill her father Jack Van Krevel with a tomahawk after claiming he had sexually abused her.
She was jailed for a further two years in 2014 for repeatedly stabbing another partner, Marshall Gould, five times in the neck, leg and arm in their Rockdale unit in June 2013.
Last year, Van Krevel made headlines again when she accused her most-recent ex-boyfriend, Glenn McKechnie, of domestic violence offences.
He was ultimately convicted of assaulting and stalking her and sent to jail.
In court on Tuesday, Van Krevel stood accused of stealing a red coloured handbag from a cafe in Windang around 12.45pm on March 16.
The court heard the handbag contained the victim’s identification documents including bank cards and her driver’s licence, as well as the keys to a Toyota Yaris and a brown leather purse containing $160 cash.
Van Krevel was arrested on March 20 and charged with a single count of stealing from a person.
She was released on court bail later that day by Magistrate Chris McRobert, who imposed reporting and residence conditions on her release.
Van Krevel, who was represented in court on Tuesday by NSW Legal Aid, did not enter a plea to the charge and had the matter adjourned to April 11 to seek further legal advice.
However, Van Krevel allegedly admitted to taking the bag during an interview with the Daily Mail earlier this month, thinking it was an “opportunity”.
“Look I didn't take it from a person,” she allegedly told the publication.
“It was sitting on the back of a table in a cafe.”
“I didn't hurt anyone. And I wouldn't, because I don't do that sort of thing.”
