The Test and Origin prop is a qualified judge of an opposition’s forward strength and the 2015 premiership-winner admitted on Tuesday that the Dragons gave the much vaunted Penrith pack all they could handle in their round one demolition job.
Asked who was the toughest team he’s come up against this year, Tamou said: “I think the Dragons. I remember coming off that field and thinking they were the real deal. I know it was round one and everyone was still getting their bearings but what they threw at us we couldn’t handle.
“I think the Dragons game was a big shock. We thought we could just win with the ball. We were dancing to our own tune, we were reading everything and thinking this ‘will come easy’ so it was a good lesson learned.”
