IWIB director Glenda Papac said many business people and businesses have entered for the first time which means the annual event that started with just two categories early this decade will provide an opportunity to showcase many new enterprises for the first time.
“We have had a lot of different applicants which is great,” she said.
There are also some new judges including 2016 Illawarra Business Woman of the Year Lisa Burling, of LBPR, who is helping Terry Widdicombe, of IMB Bank, in the Best New Business category. She is also the guest speaker.
A new award has been introduced this year for customer focus immediately proved popular. Other categories include Business Woman of the Year, Young Businesswoman of the Year, Best Business, Best Small Business, Best Home Based Business, Business Woman, Outstanding Commitment to the Community, Outstanding Commitment to the Business Community and Champion Networker. The small business and home based categories always attract the the most entries providing plenty of work for the judges.
